Heh. That'd be one of the reports I have sitting on my desk.
[Small city.]
I've spoken to Warrick a couple of times, and while I can't say he's exactly a pillar of our community, having someone try to murder you over a video game is extreme. Given how Sato was trying to rile up folks on the network, I don't doubt he would've done it. If he's working with Rage, there's a price -- there always is. Hell, he might've even wanted to trade the body for ammunition the way they do with the monsters in the caves.
[And while Nick doesn't know it, that's not too far off the mark.]
You don't think Rage gave him one of those blessing thingies? 'Cause he's provin' to be problematical enough without addin' more to his little arsenal.
[Given the damage he'd done easy enough and how much he must've fueled Rage already, it sure don't bode well for the future.]
Let's hope Rage don't take his little riot as a good sign, then.
[Yeah, Sans don't sound real happy about the prospect of that either.]
You got any plans for what to do about guys like him? It ain't like "imprisonment" is a real foreseeable option. Or, uh, would even work in the long-term.
We're still working on it. Like you said, we don't really have the resources to just keep someone locked up, even if that someone is dangerous all on his own. Last person we had to deal with agreed to community service once we took his phone away.
[He likes to think he's pretty on the up and up as far as news goes - knows just about everybody well enough to catch wind of most of the chatter. The network helps, 'course.
But if there's more people prone to bouts of violence abound, it'd help to know.]
That was Mello, several months back when that fog rolled into town. He's not our biggest fan, but he's kept himself out of trouble since thing, relatively speaking.
[Though there's probably plenty that goes on out of sight of the Guard. Nick has no illusions about that. At least he's smarter about keeping it off the network these days... sometimes.]
We've had a few other cases like that, but most people are willing to work with us. They want this place to be as livable as possible while we're here, and they realize the Guard is just trying to help.
[Mello. Yeah, he remembers the guy. He seemed all in all pretty open about the, uh, less than scrupulous nature of some of his actions. Still don't excuse what he's done, or the fact that he's got the potential to do it again.]
Well, you got plenty of people in your corner as far as that goes. I'd say Sato's more in the minority.
[But it don't help that he's pretty powerful all on his ownsome.]
[Only a brief hesitation before Sans responds. He ain't been real forthcoming about the fact that Papyrus got dealt a pretty harsh blow, largely because the temptation to tread the whole affair underfoot in the process of forgetting it is too much for a guy like him to bear.
But, heh. Consequences, right? What a thing to live with.]
Wouldn't happen to know anybody who's gotta knack for teaching healing magic? I'm a bit rusty; might do to brush up a little, make sure it don't happen again.
[He thinks on that a second. Magic and Nick don't particularly get along -- he comes from a world where any supernatural happenings are more likely from radiation than witchcraft. He's learned a bit about it since being in the city, but aside from the fact that some folks come from worlds with it and others don't, he tries to steer clear of the stuff. Let those who know what they're doing handle it.
That doesn't mean he doesn't keep tabs on the subject though, especially when it pops up on the network.]
If you haven't checked with Kate Galloway down at the clinic, you might see who she has working for her. I know most of the folks they have there do more of the traditional sort of healing, but she's got to have at least one person with magic since she makes those little healing knickknacks. Let's see...
[The sound of paper turning. He might be a machine, but he keeps a lot of paper notes these days.]
The guy she makes them with is a fella named Carlisle Longinmouth. Doesn't pop up on the network much, but if he's got a phone, maybe he'll answer it if you give him a call.
[He knows Kate, yeah, but she hadn't given him any names. If he'd known the guards kept paper notes of these sorts of things, he would've popped down to the central headquarters a whole lot sooner, just to get his phalanges on those notes firsthand. Not for nothin', but he's a general fan of cuttin' out the middle man, so to speak, and headin' right to the chase.
Still, it ain't like Undyne kept real organized records back in the Underground. But Undyne don't run this guard.]
Name sounds familiar. [Yeah, he thinks he remembers the guy. After the initial panic about "undeads," he'd been quite the wordsmith.]
[A little bit more paper shuffling, and what sounds like a drawer being closed.]
I'll stop chewing your ear off now, [not that Sans has them] but thanks again. Let me know if there's anything I can do for you or that brother of yours.
[Or, you know, anyone else. Nick likes to help where he can. Every little bit helps make this place more tolerable.]
Hey, don't worry about it. I don't even have ears.
[The obvious joke, but he's always been a fan of those. To no one's surprise, he's sure.]
And, uh, no problem. Can't say I'm any good in a fight, but if there's anything I can do for you guys... [He lets the sentence fall where it may, leavin' Nick free to derive what he will from it.] Well, like I said. You do good work 'round here.
[voice]
[Though granted, he ain't about to call Warrick the paragon of veracity.]
Though, uh, I can't say Warrick weren't paintin' a target on himself before that.
[voice]

[Gotta make him wonder, though.]
You don't think Rage gave him one of those blessing thingies? 'Cause he's provin' to be problematical enough without addin' more to his little arsenal.

And, uh, more importantly, did it work at all?

I'm glad to hear it. I'm just hoping we can hold this place together until we can find a way home.
[For those who want to go, at least. For the rest, it'll need even more work.]
Speaking of the people in our corner -- there anything I can do for your brother to help him get well?
[voice]
But, heh. Consequences, right? What a thing to live with.]

[And with that, he hangs up with a click. He'll check in again at some point, Sans. That's just how he does.]
